Twill Fabric 06-01-2014
Twill Fabric
Twill is a woven fabric. Twill is one of the two main weaving types for woven fabrics.
The simple type being canvas where the fibers are just crossing each other in a rectangular shape.
Twill is woven in a different pattern, so it generates parallel stripes on the surface. Those stripes will look exactly the opposite way on the backside.the raised part will be deep inside and vice-verse.By using this effect it is much easier to make certain effects with twill fabrics on the surface.stripes can change directions to achieve some interesting looks like the herringbone look for example, where 2 stripes meet after a certain distance.
Twill is also more durable than canvas, since the parallel striped part combines a lot of fibers each fiber cannot be pulled out from left to right or top to bottom as when using canvas. Since there is nothing actively stopping the fiber from being pulled out.
The Twill weave is used in many other fabric types such as denim, tweed, chino, gabardine, drill and covert.
